IRC Lab Network
NW Innovation Resource Center (NWIRC) has been serving Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, Island and San Juan counties since 2011 by providing strategic resources to budding entrepreneurs and existing businesses pursuing technological innovation. Our focus has been on integrating new and sustainable technologies into the existing regional economy including aerospace, manufacturing, maritime, and agriculture sectors.
Unlocking Regional Potential
The greatest value of the IRC Labs is in their function as space for entrepreneurs, innovative businesses, workforce members and students to interact, facilitating idea-sharing and collaboration that will lead to greater innovation than any could accomplish in isolation. By strategically locating the IRC Labs throughout the Region, we aim to make these resources more accessible and inclusive, catering to the growing community of innovators in our Region. This initiative will not only drive technological advancement but also stimulate economic growth and job creation in the Region.
What We Do
Impacting Our Communities: Innovation with Local Roots
IRC Labs strengthen the fabric of our region by supporting the people and industries that call it home. From Sedro-Woolley to the San Juans and from Bellingham to Everett, we provide hands-on tools and real-world resources that help local businesses address challenges, create quality jobs, and bring new solutions to the market. By connecting innovation directly to community needs, we help ensure that progress benefits everyone — not just the few.
Advancing Individuals: Entrepreneurs and Workers at the Center
For entrepreneurs, small innovative business, and workers, IRC Labs offer a rare mix of space, equipment, mentorship, and training that helps turn ambition into action. Whether launching a startup, testing a prototype, or building next-gen skills in data, AI, or advanced manufacturing, individuals at IRC Labs gain the support they need to move faster, smarter, and with greater confidence. Our programs are designed to meet people where they are and help them get where they want to go.
Shaping the Future: Driving Innovation Across Industries
The IRC Lab Network is part of a regional push to help industries not just adapt to change — but lead it. We help local businesses explore and apply cutting-edge technologies, from AI and digital tools to breakthroughs in sustainable aviation fuel, aerospace, agriculture, healthcare, fusion energy, and beyond. By staying ahead of emerging trends, we help position our region as a hub of forward-looking, future-ready innovation.
