NWIRC April 2011 Pitch Clinic

We are working on the next phase for the NWIRC. We are working on establishing a three phase program to support startups through mentoring and coaching. In order to take that program to the next level, we will hold a Pitch Clinic near the end of April.

The Business Pitch is one of the places where you get to hone your message about your ideas: The act of standing and delivering a clear statement creates focus. Through that focus, a lot of businesses make progress.

We are looking for Entrepreneurs who a interested in coaching help and mentoring designed to make faster progress. We are looking for community mentors who are interested in spending time supporting the startup ecosystem. We will use the Pitch Clinic as a way to bring everyone together and help accelerate some business ideas.

Entrepreneurs Coffee

As you take on the Startup Journey, there is always more that you don’t know about the process. Every day is a new discovery of new things. Each startup is about uncovering a new relationship between customers and a way to do things better.

Given all that you don’t know, it is useful to learn fast. One of the best ways to learn is to work with others who are on the same journey that you are on. This is why we are supporting the Bellingham Entrepreneurs Coffee sessions.

Each week, a group of entrepreneurs gather to talk about the Startup Process. You can find more details at the Bellingham Entrepreneur Coffee Meeting page

Please feel free to join us.

Lean Startup Conference – Carpool and Discount

The Lean Startup Methodology has started some very interesting conversations for startups. At the core, it focuses on the key issues that prevent a startup from succeeding by zeroing in on the key issues that an early startup needs to understand. I frequently recommend the book The Four Steps to the Epiphany by Steven Blank and The Entrepreneurs Guide to Customer Development by Patrick Vlaskovits

Some times it is more interesting to have a conversation in detail about the ideas. We will have the chance to engage deeply with the Lean Startup Methodology. On May 5th and 6th, the Agile Vacouver group is hosting a Lean Startup Conference

This conference will have several of the key voices in the Lean Startup conversation talking about the ideas and foundation to the Lean Startup process.

We would like to see a lot of Whatcom folks engage in this conversation. If we are able to register 10 people before March 30, we will be able to get a 20% discount on attending. On Thursday, there is a normal conference sessions for $125. On Friday, there are 1/2 day tutorials for $175. Please look at the website for more details: Lean Startup Conference

If you want to get the discount and if you want to participate in our efforts to Car Pool to the event, please

Fill out this Form to get the Discount and Carpool info

Please do this before March 30, 2011.
We will send in a list of the people attending, and they will send us a registration code, which we will then email you for the registration.
